Methodology
Clinical trials
Trial records come from the ClinicalTrials.gov API v2(opens in a new tab) (US National Library of Medicine), queried for the condition "chronic pain". The Canada subset contains studies with at least one listed site in Canada. Province and city pages are built from those Canadian site listings. The snapshot is from October 2026.
Drug labels
Drug pages come from the openFDA drug label API(opens in a new tab) (US FDA, CC0), using labels whose indications and usage section mentions "chronic pain". These are US labels. They are not Health Canada Product Monographs and are not a list of drugs approved in Canada. Where a label record has no brand or generic name, the page name is taken from the label's own indications text.
Rules we follow
- A blank field in the source is hidden. We never estimate or impute values.
- Titles and condition labels are shown as registrants entered them. Only obvious ALL CAPS text is converted to title case.
- Close variants of a condition label are kept as separate pages and cross-linked.
- We do not publish trial results, efficacy or safety conclusions.
- Pages are generated from the snapshot files; nothing is fetched from the registries when you visit.
Worldwide corpus and interventions
The worldwide corpus (7,835 chronic pain records, delivered as four files and combined at build time) powers the Worldwide tab, worldwide trial pages, and the worldwide lists on condition and intervention pages. Where a study appears in both the Canada and worldwide files, the Canada record is used. Intervention pages cover the 300 intervention labels that appear most often; labels are as entered by registrants.
