About Neuropathic Pain
What is Neuropathic Pain?
Neuropathic pain is pain caused by damage to, or disease of, the nervous system. People describe it with words such as burning, shooting, stabbing or electric. It can follow conditions such as diabetes, shingles, nerve injury or chemotherapy.
How is Neuropathic Pain usually assessed?
Clinicians usually assess neuropathic pain through a history and a neurological examination, sometimes with questionnaires designed to screen for nerve-related pain, and sometimes with nerve conduction studies or imaging.
What kinds of treatments are studied for Neuropathic Pain?
Registered studies cover medicines, medical devices (such as nerve stimulators), procedures (such as nerve blocks or injections), physical and movement therapies, psychological approaches (such as cognitive behavioural therapy), education programs and digital tools. Being studied in a trial does not mean a treatment works or is approved. The interventions listed on this page come directly from the registry records.
How can I find Neuropathic Pain clinical trials in Canada?
This page lists 8 registry records for this term with at least one site in Canada, recruiting studies first. Each trial page links to the official ClinicalTrials.gov record, which lists the study contacts. Recruiting status changes often, so check the registry, and talk to your doctor before joining a study.
