About Complex Regional Pain Syndrome
What is Complex Regional Pain Syndrome?
Complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) is a chronic pain condition that usually affects an arm or a leg, often after an injury, surgery, stroke or heart attack. The pain is out of proportion to the original injury and may come with changes in skin colour, temperature or swelling.
How is Complex Regional Pain Syndrome usually assessed?
CRPS is diagnosed clinically, based on history and examination using published diagnostic criteria, after other causes have been considered.
What kinds of treatments are studied for Complex Regional Pain Syndrome?
Registered studies cover medicines, medical devices (such as nerve stimulators), procedures (such as nerve blocks or injections), physical and movement therapies, psychological approaches (such as cognitive behavioural therapy), education programs and digital tools. Being studied in a trial does not mean a treatment works or is approved. The interventions listed on this page come directly from the registry records.
How can I find Complex Regional Pain Syndrome clinical trials in Canada?
This page lists 3 registry records for this term with at least one site in Canada, recruiting studies first. Each trial page links to the official ClinicalTrials.gov record, which lists the study contacts. Recruiting status changes often, so check the registry, and talk to your doctor before joining a study.
